Sangiovese grape wines

Le point de vue du Baroudeur

Sangiovese is a red grape variety widely planted in Italy and also bears the name Nielluccio in Corsica. In Tuscany, it is the only grape allowed in the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino and forms the backbone of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and Chianti. Sangiovese is valued for its high acidity, firm tannins and balanced nature. Flavors of cherries, plum, wild raspberry and dark fruits are typical and can sometimes be accompanied by secondary notes of dried herbs.
