product descriptions logo

Located in the heart of the Coonawarra region of South Australia, Parker Coonawarra Estate's 95 Block vineyard rests on the renowned terra rossa soils that overlie a limestone bedrock. This narrow strip of land, benefiting from a cool climate and maritime influences from the Southern Ocean, offers ideal conditions for the slow ripening of Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate takes full advantage of these unique geological and climatic features to produce a Cabernet that is concentrated, structured, and marked by a distinct expression of terroir.

The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes for the 95 Block are harvested at optimal ripeness, sorted, and then fermented in stainless steel tanks with controlled pump-overs to extract color, aromas, and structure. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels, primarily French, for an extended period to refine the tannins, develop aromatic complexity, and subtly integrate the oak notes before bottling at the estate.

This wine reveals notes of ripe blackcurrant , juicy blackberry , and black plum , complemented by floral touches of violet and eucalyptus . Spicy nuances of pepper and clove mingle with elegant oak of cedar and toasted vanilla . The palate is full-bodied, with firm yet polished tannins , supported by fresh acidity and a dense texture, leading to a long and persistent finish.

Where are we traveling?

Coonawarra

Located approximately 380 kilometers southeast of Adelaide, on the edge of South Australia, Coonawarra is a relatively small but extraordinarily renowned wine region, particularly for its unique "terra rossa" terroir. This distinctive strip of red earth, barely 15 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide, rests on a porous limestone subsoil that ensures perfect drainage while allowing the roots to access deep groundwater. The cool maritime climate, influenced by the Southern Ocean less than 100 kilometers away, is characterized by moderate summers and a long ripening season, ideal for preserving natural acidity and developing the aromatic complexity of the grapes. Regular ocean breezes temper the summer heat and reduce the risk of fungal diseases. This exceptional combination of unique red soil, cool maritime climate and limestone aquifer makes Coonawarra one of the world's greatest Cabernet Sauvignon terroirs, producing red wines of remarkable elegance and structure.

The little history of the country

Australia

product descriptions logo

Australia began producing wine more than two centuries ago. This has resulted in a country rich in old vines, multigenerational winemaking families, and a deep-rooted knowledge and respect for craftsmanship. Add to this a thirst for exploration and innovation, a fearless attitude, and a diverse portfolio of 65 wine regions across a wide range of climates, and you have the makings of an extraordinary wine nation. Australia burst onto the export scene in the 1980s and has since been offering the world vibrant, fruity, and exceptionally good-value wines. Until the late 1990s and early 2000s, the history of Australian wine was dominated by examples of Shiraz, Grenache, and overly concentrated red blends. Between these two extremes lies the diverse range of high-quality Australian wines and regional wines that has always existed. Australian viticulture is concentrated primarily along the southern coastline where conditions are cooler. There are four main wine regions, each centered around major cities: Western Australia around Perth, South Australia around Adelaide, Victoria around Melbourne, and New South Wales around Sydney. The country is one of the world's largest wine producers and was the fourth-largest exporter in 2011. This recent development has made Australia one of the most prominent countries for the quality of its wines. You can taste Australian wines throughout the country. Each Australian region has its own grape varieties. Australian wines are defined by their grape variety, unlike French wines, which are defined by their terroir.
