Wine gift sets: which selection to choose?

8 gift sets from €75 to €165

A wine box, for us, is a case of three to six bottles brought together by a country, a color or an estate, with a tasting sheet for each wine. You open it all at once, unlike a subscription which is spread over several months.

Today, there are eight boxes, from the world tour selection to Italian grand crus, including Argentina, South Africa and the Portuguese Douro. The table below compares them line by line.

Each bottle is tastedNo vintage goes into a box without being blind tasted by the team.
One sheet per vintageThe estate, the region, the service, the aromatic analysis and the pairings: everything you need to open each bottle knowing what you're looking for.

Choosing the right formula

Box set, box, or gift?

Three ways to buy wine from us, each serving a different purpose.

Comparison of the three formulas: wine box, monthly subscription box, and gift box.
FormulaWhat it isFromWhen to choose it
Wine box3 to 6 bottles, delivered in one goA themed case (a country, a color, a domain) with a tasting sheet for each wine. €75 To offer something tangible, or to explore a single-block vineyard.
Wine box1 or 2 bottles per monthA new selection every month, paid for in one go for the chosen duration, from one to six months. €20.90 To discover over time, without ever seeing the same bottle twice.
Gift boxthe gift box versionThe same monthly selection, in a version designed to be given as a gift, with its own delivery options. €20.90 When a gift needs to last several months instead of being a one-time delivery.

The three can be combined without issue: many offer a box set and then continue with a subscription box.

Our bias

Six bottles that complement each other are better than six good bottles

Assembling a wine box is not about stacking highly-rated vintages. What makes a case stand out is what you learn as you move from one bottle to the next: the same grape varietal at two different altitudes, a refreshing red next to a wine meant for aging, a white that, by contrast, explains what the red next to it is doing.

That's why our wine boxes are thematic rather than generic. An Argentine box might feature Mendoza Malbec alongside Salta Torrontés, with Bonarda reminding us that the country was planted by Italians. Six random bottles would tell none of that story.

What's not included in a gift set

End-of-series wines that a winery seeks to sell, and high-volume cuvées found in supermarkets, even when they would look good on a label.

A case of wine is judged when the last bottle is opened, not the first.

Frequently Asked Questions

What we're being asked for on the sets

What does a wine box contain?

Three to six bottles grouped around a theme (a country, a color, a domain) and a tasting note for each cuvée. Each note provides the domain, region, serving temperature, aromatic analysis, and food pairings.

How many bottles in a set?

Six for most of the boxes. The Grands Crus Italy box contains three, because the appellations that make it up, Barolo, Amarone and Brunello di Montalcino, are at a completely different price level. The details are in the comparison table.

What budget should I plan for a wine box set?

From €75 for the World Tour Case to €165 for the Great Italian Vintages. The majority are priced between €75 and €120, which is €12 to €20 per bottle.

Wine gift box or subscription box: which to choose?

The box set arrives in one shipment and is chosen by theme: it is the format for a gift or a targeted exploration. The box arrives each month with a renewed selection: it is the format for ongoing discovery.

Can a wine box be given as is?

Yes, that's its most common use: the box and its tasting notes form a coherent set, with nothing to prepare. If you prefer the gift to last several months, check out our subscription boxes.

Which box set for someone who already knows their stuff?

The Italy Grand Cru Box Set, whose three appellations are recognizable by their labels, or the Quinta de la Rosa Box Set, which explores a single Douro estate across six vintages. Two angles that a seasoned connoisseur knows how to appreciate.

Should the bottles be consumed quickly?

No. The vintages in a box set can be enjoyed within a year without issue, and many can be kept much longer: the tasting notes indicate their aging potential. Store the bottles horizontally, away from light, between 12 and 16 °C.

Which countries do the wines in the boxes come from?

Italy, Argentina, South Africa, Portugal, Chile, United States, and Australia, depending on the box. The "World Tour" selections combine several of these in one case.
