Pinot Gris varietal wines
Pinot Gris is a white wine grape from the vineyards of Burgundy. It is found today in wine regions around the world. A member of the extended Pinot family of grape varieties, Pinot Gris is a pink-skinned mutation of Pinot Noir. The word “gray” refers to the light, dusty gray sheen that grapes often take on. Flavors and aromas vary greatly from region to region and from style to style. But common characteristics include notes of pears, apples, stone fruits, tropical fruits and sweet spices. Today, the best wines from this grape variety are found in Alsace, Germany, Oregon and Italy.
