Quinta de la Rosa

Le point de vue du Baroudeur

Quinta de la Rosa was born from an extraordinary gesture: in 1906, the Feuerheerd family, Port wine merchants, gifted this Douro property to their daughter Claire as a christening present. More than a century later, the estate has never left the family. It was Tim Bergqvist, Claire's son, who relaunched the Quinta with his children Sophia, Olivia, and Philip, driven by a clear ambition: to modernize without betraying the heritage.

The decisive turning point came in 2002 with Jorge Moreira, one of Portugal's most respected winemakers. His signature: precise and fresh wines, in contrast to heavy and overripe Douro wines. Under his direction, the Quinta established itself as an international benchmark, both for Port and for dry wines.

What makes Quinta de la Rosa unique is its dizzying vineyard: the vines start right at the river's edge and climb up to 450 meters in altitude, crossing 11 distinct microclimates on schist and granite soils classified "A" by the Douro Wine Institute. Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz for reds and Ports; Viosinho, Gouveio, Rabigato for whites — each cuvée reflects this exceptional diversity of terroirs.

Today, Quinta de la Rosa is also a living space: a charming hotel, a gourmet restaurant, and tastings in the heart of the cellars. An estate that embodies this new generation of Douro quintas, facing the world without ever forgetting their roots.
