Domaine de la Roche Aiguë: nine Burgundy cuvées
9 bottles, from €28.90 to €68.00Domaine de la Roche Aiguë is the second most represented producer in our Burgundy range, with nine cuvées on sale. All come from the same area, the Côte de Beaune: the Hautes-Côtes at altitude, then Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses, Pommard, Meursault and a Beaune premier cru, Les Cras.
Pinot Noir gives the six reds, Chardonnay the three whites, with ageing in oak barrels depending on the cuvée. The estate's technical sheets highlight sustainable viticulture and traditional winemaking methods. The range climbs from €28.90 to €68.00, with a median of €35.00: there is room to taste the style before moving up the appellations.

The nine cuvées, from the entry-level price to the premier cru
A single scale explains this range: the precision of the place. The Hautes-Côtes cover a large area at altitude, Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses, Pommard and Meursault designate villages, and Les Cras designates a plot classified as premier cru in Beaune. The narrower the name, the higher the price.

| Beaune 1er cru Les Cras red2022, Pinot Noir | Beaune premier cru | A classified lieu-dit, the densest structure the estate offers here | €68.00 |
Six rows for nine bottles: the three Hautes-Côtes cuvées share the same price of €28.90, and Auxey-Duresses exists both as a 2023 red at €35.00 and as a 2022 white at €38.00. With a median of €35.00, six wines out of nine stay under €40.00.
Six ways into the selection
Depending on your budget and the occasion, you will not tackle this producer with the same bottle. Here are the six routes that make sense, from the trial bottle at €28.90 to the two wines you open for a special meal.
All the Burgundy in our cellar
The complete range, four sub-regions and twenty-one estates. La Roche Aiguë is the second most represented producer.
125 winesAuxey-Duresses in red and white
The 2023 red at €35.00, the 2022 white at €38.00. Same appellation, two grape varieties: a chance to compare what Pinot Noir and Chardonnay draw from a limestone terroir.
Pommard rouge 2022
The only truly structured red in the lot, on limestone and clay soils. At €59.90, it is one to open with meat in sauce rather than for an impromptu dinner.
€59.90Meursault Les Clous 2024
Chardonnay from a limestone plot, aged in barrel. It is the producer's most expensive white here, at €66.00, and the one best suited to a dish.
Young vintageBeaune 1er cru Les Cras 2022
The only premier cru in the range, from a lieu-dit clearly named on the label. At €68.00, it is the bottle you keep for an occasion.
€68.00The neighbours in the Côte de Beaune
To place this producer, nothing beats a comparison with the other estates in the same area. Same grape varieties, same appellations, different styles.

What each cuvée calls for on the plate
Six reds and three whites from the Côte de Beaune cover almost an entire meal, provided you respect the order of weight. The cuvées at €28.90 handle everyday meals, while Pommard and the Beaune premier cru call for slow cooking or a fine cut of meat.
| The dish | The recommended bottle | Why this choice | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Roast poultry, white meata relaxed Sunday | Hautes-Côtes de Beaune rouge 2024 | A light, fruity Pinot Noir does not overwhelm delicate meat | €28.90 |
| White fish, shellfishsimply cooked, butter or lemon | La Lave blanc 2022 | Chardonnay on limestone soil, backed by minerality and freshness | €28.90 |
| Charcuterie, sharing boarda long aperitif | Auxey-Duresses rouge 2023 | Fresh red fruit and discreet tannins: it goes down without tiring the palate | €35.00 |
| Braised beef, daubeslow-cooked dish, reduced sauce | Pommard rouge 2022 | The only red structured enough to stand up to a long-simmered sauce | €59.90 |
| Pressed cheesesuch as aged Comté | Meursault Les Clous white 2024 | A barrel-aged white works better than a red with these cheeses | €66.00 |
| Roast lambfestive meal | Beaune 1er cru Les Cras red 2022 | The estate's most complex cuvée deserves a whole joint | €68.00 |
A question of ageing: the three entry-level cuvées and the Auxey-Duresses are happily drunk now, for their fruit. The Pommard and the premier cru Les Cras are the two wines that benefit from being left to rest; their structure needs time to soften. The Meursault 2024 is the youngest in the selection and benefits from half an hour in a decanter.
The best value lies in the middle of the range
Faced with these nine bottles, your eye first goes to the Pommard at €59.90 and the Beaune premier cru at €68.00. These are the reassuring names. They are not the ones we recommend first.
Saint-Romain at €35.00 and Auxey-Duresses, €35.00 in red and €38.00 in white, tell the story of the same work: Pinot Noir or Chardonnay on limestone, ageing in oak barrels, grapes from a named area. What changes is the fame of the appellation, and you pay for that on the label far more than you taste it in the glass. At half the price of the premier cru, these two cuvées tell you the essentials of the house style.
One honest caveat remains: if you are looking for a dense red for a slow-cooked dish, no bottle in this selection replaces the Pommard, whose clay soils give it a structure the other cuvées lack. And for a first try with no commitment, the three cuvées at €28.90 do the scouting job very well.
Three ways to approach this producer
To try it out at €28.90. The 2024 Hautes-Côtes red, or La Lave white 2022 if you prefer Chardonnay.
To understand the style. Auxey-Duresses red 2023 at €35.00, the cuvée that sits at the median of the range.
For a special meal. Beaune 1er cru Les Cras 2022 at €68.00, or the Meursault Les Clous 2024 at €66.00 if the meal starts with fish.

What we are asked most often
Where are the vineyards of Domaine de la Roche Aiguë?
The nine cuvées sold here all come from the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy. They are spread between the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune, Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses, Pommard, Meursault and the premier cru Les Cras in Beaune. The estate's descriptions specify neither the village where it is based nor the area planted, and we will not make them up.
How many wines from this producer are available?
Nine wines, six reds and three whites. All are sold by the 75 cl bottle, with no compulsory pack. Prices range from €28.90 to €68.00, with a median of €35.00.
Which bottle should I start with?
With one of the three Hautes-Côtes de Beaune cuvées, all at €28.90: the 2024 red, La Dalignière red 2022 or La Lave white 2022. They come from cooler slopes and give a light Pinot Noir and a lively Chardonnay. It is the best way to judge the style before spending €59.90 or more.
Is the estate certified organic or biodynamic?
Its descriptions speak of sustainable viticulture, respect for the environment and traditional methods, without ever naming a certification body. We therefore cannot describe it as certified. If the producer sends us a label, the information will appear on the product pages.
Which grape varieties are grown?
Pinot Noir for the six reds, Chardonnay for the three whites. This is the usual pairing in the Côte de Beaune, and the estate offers no other grape variety here. Ageing takes place in oak barrels, sometimes for only part of the volume depending on the cuvée.
What is the difference between the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune and a premier cru?
A hillside appellation such as the Hautes-Côtes covers a vast area, whereas a premier cru designates a delimited, classified plot, here the Les Cras lieu-dit. The smaller and more consistent the area, the lower the volumes and the higher the price. With this producer, the gap runs from €28.90 to €68.00 for two Pinot Noirs.
What is the most expensive wine in the selection?
The Beaune 1er cru Les Cras red 2022, at €68.00. It is closely followed by the Meursault Les Clous white 2024 at €66.00, then by the Pommard red 2022 at €59.90. The other six cuvées sit between €28.90 and €38.00.
Which vintages are in stock?
Six cuvées from 2022: La Dalignière, La Lave, Saint-Romain, Auxey-Duresses white, Pommard and Les Cras. One from 2023, the Auxey-Duresses red. Two from 2024, the Hautes-Côtes red and the Meursault Les Clous.
Which of the three whites should you choose?
La Lave white 2022 at €28.90 for the aperitif and seafood, with its limestone freshness. The Auxey-Duresses white 2022 at €38.00 for a little more substance and sustained acidity. The Meursault Les Clous 2024 at €66.00 for a true food white, from a single plot and aged in barrel.
Do these bottles keep?
The entry-level cuvées and the Auxey-Duresses are happily drunk now, for their fruit. The Pommard and the premier cru Les Cras have the densest structure in the range and benefit from waiting in the cellar. We do not give a specific number of years, as the estate's technical sheets indicate none.
