🌍 Understanding Pinot Noir styles according to origin

Burgundy (France)

The absolute benchmark. Elegance, finesse, aromatic complexity. The tannins are silky, never aggressive. Aromas of red fruit (cherry, raspberry), undergrowth, and sweet spices. Price: from €30 (villages) to several thousand euros (grand crus).

Oregon (USA)

Burgundy style with an American twist. More fruit, slightly more pronounced tannins. Excellent value. Aromas of black cherry, mushrooms, and floral notes. Price: €25-80.

New Zealand

Exceptional fruit purity. Modern and approachable style. Central Otago produces intense and elegant Pinot Noirs. Vibrant red fruit aromas and spices. Price: €20-70.

Germany

Called Spätburgunder. Lighter style, very aromatic. Excellent freshness. Perfect for discovering Pinot Noir. Price: €15-50.

Mature wines: No decanting, or a maximum of 30 minutes.

Glasses:

Burgundy type (wide balloon) to allow oxygenation and concentrate the aromas.

Conservation :

Cellar at 12-14°C, 70% humidity, bottles lying down, darkness. Pinot Noir can age 10-30 years depending on the estate and vintage.
