Located in the heart of Chianti Classico, the La Casuccia vineyard belongs to the Castello di Ama estate, in the municipality of Gaiole in Chianti, north of Siena, Tuscany. Planted on hillsides between approximately 470 and 520 meters above sea level, the vines benefit from varied exposures and soils mixing galestro, clays, and limestone elements, typical of this historic area. This ventilated and well-ddrained terroir allows for a slow and regular ripening of the grapes, offering wines that are intense, balanced, and deeply marked by their Tuscan origin.
The grapes are harvested manually, carefully sorted, then destemmed before fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, with extended maceration to extract color and tannins. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in tanks, then the wine is racked into new French oak barrels, where it is aged for a long time to refine its structure, integrate the wood, and preserve the precise expression of the La Casuccia terroir.
This wine reveals notes of black cherry, ripe plum, and red berries, enhanced by floral touches of violet and dried rose, as well as spicy nuances of pepper, licorice, and clove. Elegant woody accents, evoking cedar, blond tobacco, and a hint of vanilla, complete the bouquet. On the palate, the texture is ample and structured, supported by fine but firm tannins, a lively acidity, and a long, savory, persistent finish.
