Shaw & Smith

In 1989, two wine experts, Martin Shaw and Michael Hill Smith (Master of Wine), founded the Shaw & Smith estate in the Adelaide Hills, with the ambition of creating modern, aromatic and fresh Australian wines. Shaw & Smith focuses on an artisanal philosophy , hand-picking and precision winemaking to express the purity of its terroirs. Seduced by this terroir of high-altitude hills with its cool and humid climate, they chose this unique region to cultivate cool-climate grape varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and an elegant Rhône-style Shiraz. The estate now cultivates more than 50 hectares of organically farmed vines on two iconic sites: Lenswood and Balhannah. Harvests are carried out by hand, at perfect ripeness, and the winemaking prioritizes the expression of fruit and freshness. Over three decades, Shaw & Smith has established itself as a leading name in quality wines in Australia, embodying the excellence of cool climate wine from the Adelaide Hills.
