Malbec Universo 2019

In the province of Neuquén, in the heart of Argentine Patagonia , the Malbec Universo cuvée reflects the uniqueness of a terroir. Located at an altitude of 300 meters, the vines planted in 1999 benefit from gravelly, loamy, and sandy soils, combined with a semi-arid continental climate characterized by constant cold winds and a high temperature range. These natural conditions favor the slow maturation of the grapes, guaranteeing freshness, aromatic intensity, and finesse—characteristics that make Patagonia one of the most promising regions for Malbec in Argentina.

The vinification of this cuvée begins with a manual harvest in search of the highest quality. Alcoholic fermentation lasts approximately 25 days in stainless steel vats, using selected yeasts. Once fermentation is complete, the wine continues aging for 12 months (40% in stainless steel vats and 60% in new barrels) , favoring purity and the work of the tannins. The wine is clarified and stabilized before being bottled.

This wine reveals notes of black cherry , blackberry, blackcurrant , blueberry , smoke , leather , black pepper and violet . On the palate, the body is fluid, carried by a beautiful acidity and supple and silky tannins. The finish is persistent and spicy without any heaviness.

Although Argentina is considered the "New World," its winemaking tradition is much older than one might think, dating back to the time of Spanish colonization in the 16th century and later to Italian settlers. Unlike Chile, wine has long been a part of the country's culture.
