errazuriz-aconcagua-costa-chardonnay-chili
Errázuriz - Aconcagua Costa Chardonnay - 2022

From the coastal vineyards of Aconcagua Costa, this Chardonnay comes from parcels located near the Pacific Ocean, northwest of Santiago, in Chile's Aconcagua Valley. The vines are planted on poor granite and schist soils, mixed with sand and silt, which promotes moderate yields and great aromatic concentration. The maritime influence, with cool breezes and morning fogs, allows for slow grape ripening and preserves a marked natural acidity, giving the wine tension and balance.

The grapes are hand-harvested then gently pressed before a light settling. The must ferments mostly in French oak barrels, with a limited proportion of new wood, and the rest in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness. A portion of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation. Aging continues on fine lees for several months, with regular bâtonnage to gain volume and complexity, before blending and bottling.

This wine reveals notes of stone fruit, citrus, and tropical fruit, complemented by subtle touches of white flowers, vanilla, and toasted hazelnut from the aging, as well as a fine mineral framework evoking wet stone.
