The old, hardy Tannat vines thrive in an extreme climate where strong daytime sunshine is offset by freezing nights. They grow on gravelly, rocky and sandy soils. This intense contrast, combined with poor, well-drained soils, encourages slow ripening and remarkable aromatic expression.

The winemaking of Amauta is carefully orchestrated to reflect the authenticity of the terroir. The grapes are harvested by hand into small crates so as not to damage them, followed by fermentation in tank with strict temperature control to extract finesse and freshness. The wine is then aged for 8 months in tanks, ensuring a balanced structure and preserving the aromatic profile of the Tannat.

This wine reveals notes of black cherry, blackberries, blackcurrant, liquorice, sweet spices, cocoa and undergrowth.
