It is part of Hungary's national heritage. The Tokaji bearing its name are produced only in the \u003cstrong\u003ebest years\u003c\/strong\u003e in order to create exceptional cuvées. They come from the Sárospatak and Tolcsva wine-growing areas and the south of the appellation, and are today acclaimed by leading sommeliers. Rich in sugar, aromas and acidity, the so-called \"\u003cstrong\u003eAszú\u003c\/strong\u003e\" berries (meaning “dried” in Hungarian) come from grapes that have shrivelled on the vine or been affected by noble rot. The aszú berries are harvested \u003cstrong\u003eberry by berry\u003c\/strong\u003e in successive pickings, which represents a colossal amount of work in the vineyards. These berries are then added to a base white wine and macerate for several days until the wine is imbued with their \u003cstrong\u003eextraordinary flavours\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003eAs everywhere in Europe, 2003 saw high summer temperatures, which brought the grapes to very early ripeness. This \u003cstrong\u003eTokaji 6 Puttonyos\u003c\/strong\u003e is a blend of 2 Hungarian grape varieties: \u003cstrong\u003eFurmint\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eZeta\u003c\/strong\u003e. The quality is there, but the quantity remains small. The quality of the \u003cstrong\u003ebotrytis\u003c\/strong\u003e and of the raisining is that of the great years. This blend has produced a fine, complex sweet wine that combines acidity, power and delicacy. Sixteen years after its harvest, this Château Sárospatak 6 puttonyos \u003cstrong\u003e2003\u003c\/strong\u003e has reached its phase of maturity, which will last a good twenty years or so. It shows a brilliant colour with orange glints and an intense nose, with aromas of \u003cstrong\u003edried fruit\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003efig\u003c\/strong\u003e, all with dizzying complexity. It is concentrated, powerful and unctuous on the palate, with long aromatic persistence in which \u003cstrong\u003edried apricot\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003etoasted almond\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003ehoney\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003edate\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003esaffron\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eturmeric\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003ecinnamon\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003ecitrus peel\u003c\/strong\u003e can be discerned.
