product descriptions logo

Located in the cool, mountainous Grampians region of Victoria, Australia, the Mount Langi Ghiran vineyard stretches across granite slopes surrounded by forests and rugged terrain. The Shiraz vines benefit from a cool climate, significant temperature variations, and consistent winds that promote slow and complete ripening of the grapes. The poor soils, a blend of decomposed granite and clay, contribute to producing characterful wines marked by great aromatic purity and elegant structure.

The Shiraz grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and then destemmed before fermentation in tanks, a process carried out to preserve the purity of the fruit and the typical spicy structure of the estate. Regular pump-overs promote the gentle extraction of tannins and aromas. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels, including a proportion of French oak, to refine the texture, add aromatic complexity, and harmoniously integrate the spices and freshness characteristic of this mountain terroir.

This wine reveals notes of blackberry , black plum , and black cherry , complemented by spicy touches of black pepper and licorice , as well as subtle floral accents of violet and woody nuances reminiscent of cedar and vanilla. The palate displays a silky texture, a fresh acidity that lengthens the profile, fine yet present tannins, and a persistent, slightly spicy, and flavorful finish that highlights the balance between fruit, spice, and structure.

Where are we traveling?

The Grampians

The Grampians are an Australian wine region located in the state of Victoria, approximately 250 kilometers west of Melbourne. Dominated by the eponymous mountain range, this high-altitude area enjoys a cool continental climate, moderated by winds from the Southern Ocean. The vineyards, planted between 200 and 400 meters above sea level on poor soils of decomposed granite and sandstone, produce wines of great elegance and finesse. The region has earned an international reputation for its peppery and spicy Shiraz, characterized by distinctive notes of black pepper, as well as for its crisp, mineral Rieslings. The cool climate allows for slow ripening of the grapes, giving the wines vibrant acidity, a silky texture, and remarkable aging potential. Mount Langi Ghiran remains the iconic estate that brought the Grampians to the world stage.

The little history of the country

Australia

product descriptions logo

Australia began producing wine more than two centuries ago. This has resulted in a country rich in old vines, multigenerational winemaking families, and a deep-rooted knowledge and respect for craftsmanship. Add to this a thirst for exploration and innovation, a fearless attitude, and a diverse portfolio of 65 wine regions across a wide range of climates, and you have the makings of an extraordinary wine nation. Australia burst onto the export scene in the 1980s and has since been offering the world vibrant, fruity, and exceptionally good-value wines. Until the late 1990s and early 2000s, the history of Australian wine was dominated by examples of Shiraz, Grenache, and overly concentrated red blends. Between these two extremes lies the diverse range of high-quality Australian wines and regional wines that has always existed. Australian viticulture is concentrated primarily along the southern coastline where conditions are cooler. There are four main wine regions, each centered around major cities: Western Australia around Perth, South Australia around Adelaide, Victoria around Melbourne, and New South Wales around Sydney. The country is one of the world's largest wine producers and was the fourth-largest exporter in 2011. This recent development has made Australia one of the most prominent countries for the quality of its wines. You can taste Australian wines throughout the country. Each Australian region has its own grape varieties. Australian wines are defined by their grape variety, unlike French wines, which are defined by their terroir.
