At the table with Pommard Rouge 2023

Boeuf bourguignon, roast duck or game birds suit it perfectly. Its black fruit and clove also stand up to a well-ripened Époisses.

Pommard Rouge 2023Domaine Vaudoisey

Description of Domaine Vaudoisey

Domaine Vaudoisey, established in Burgundy, enjoys a well-deserved reputation for its devotion to environmentally friendly viticulture and for its wines that authentically express the unique character of each plot. This family estate is guided by a passion for the land and a loyalty to traditional methods, while integrating modern techniques to improve the quality and sustainability of its wines.

Description of the Cuvée Pommard Rouge

Domaine Vaudoisey's Cuvée Pommard Rouge is an exquisite example of Pinot Noir grown in the Pommard appellation, famous for its robust and elegant wines. This wine comes from vineyards carefully selected for their rich soil and optimal exposure, which allows perfect maturation of the grapes. Aging in new and used oak barrels provides complexity and structure, while respecting the integrity of the fruit.

Aromas of the Cuvée

This Pommard Rouge offers a rich and complex nose, marked by aromas of ripe black fruits, such as blackcurrant and blackberry, accompanied by spicy notes of black pepper and clove. Touches of damp earth and leather add an extra dimension, typical of Pommard Pinot Noirs, with a light background of toasted oak.

Characteristics of the Cuvée

  • Grape variety: Pinot Noir
  • Profile: On the palate, the wine is deeply structured, with very present but refined tannins, and an acidity which brings balance and freshness. The finish is persistent and reveals a beautiful aromatic complexity with an elegant integration of wood.
  • Aging Potential: With considerable aging potential, this Pommard is designed to evolve and refine over time, allowing the dense and complex aromas to fully develop.

Pairings with this Cuvée

Ideal with rich meat dishes such as beef bourguignon, roast duck, or feathered game dishes, this Pommard Rouge can also accompany strong cheeses such as Époisses. Its sturdiness and elegance make it an excellent choice for special occasions and gourmet meals.

Where are we traveling?

BurgundyFrance

Burgundy is a real adventure land for wine lovers! Supported by a predominantly continental climate, Burgundy wines draw their unique character from diverse influences — continental, Mediterranean and oceanic — which intertwine to create a symphony of incomparable flavors. It is this climatic fusion that allows each Burgundy Grand Cru to reveal aromas and flavors that some consider to be the best in the world.

From north to south, each Burgundian wine region, from Chablis to Mâconnais, benefits from its own microclimate. In Chablis, winegrowers combat spring frosts by wrapping the vines in a protective cocoon of frozen water. On the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune, the hills capture the sunlight, generating hot summers which fill the grapes with sunshine, while the Mâconnais benefits from an almost Mediterranean climate, less prone to frost and drier.

This mix of climatic conditions, combined with a diverse geology with more than 400 different soil types, gives each Burgundy wine its own identity. Each bottle is a story of terroir, a story of land and climate, an invitation to explore the rich wine heritage of Burgundy.

The little history of the country

France

France, home of Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne, is undoubtedly the most important wine producing country in the world. For centuries, it produced wine in greater quantities than any other country. Wine is ingrained in French culture at almost every level of society; it is the drink of the elite and the common people, and a key symbol of Roman Catholicism, the majority religion in France. The diversity of French wines is due, in large part, to the country's wide variety of climates.
