The Holdvölgy estate, located in the heart of the Mád Basin, in the prestigious Tokaj wine region of Hungary, originated in 1998 when Pascal Demko , a young Hungarian lawyer, discovered this historic land. Sent by his mother to acquire a few rows of vines to give to his father for his birthday (a man who had worked in Tokaj in his youth), Pascal fell under the spell of the region and decided to settle there. In 2004, he founded Holdvölgy ("Moon Valley") with the ambitious goal of producing one of the best Tokaj wines, taking the time to do it right: the first bottles would not see the light of day until 2011.
Today, the estate covers 28 hectares divided into 27 plots located on 7 grands crus of the famous hillsides of Mád, a terroir recognized as one of the most prestigious in the Tokaji appellation. The architecture of the winery, both sober and contemporary, gives access to a 1.8 km underground network of cellars , some of which date back to the 16th century . Thanks to the richness of the volcanic soils and a wide variety of exposures, Holdvölgy produces a complete range of exceptional Tokaj wines , from single-varietal or blended dry white wines to the famous Aszú sweet wines , including the refined Szamorodni, illustrating all the complexity and modernity of this great terroir.
