gaja-barbaresco-costa-russi-italie
Gaja - Barbaresco Costa Russi - 2020

Located in the municipality of Barbaresco, in the heart of the Langhe region in Piedmont, the Costa Russi vineyard belongs to the Gaja estate and stretches across a hillside predominantly facing south. The plots rest on marl-calcareous soils rich in clay and sand, typical of the area, which promote a slow and complete maturation of the Nebbiolo grape. The Costa Russi plot is considered one of the estate's historic crus, benefiting from a microclimate tempered by the surrounding hills and the characteristic autumn mists of the region.

Made from Nebbiolo vines located on the Costa Russi cru in Barbaresco, this wine is produced from carefully hand-harvested grapes. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks with skin maceration to extract color and structure, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is then aged in oak barrels and large casks to refine the tannins, preserve the aromatic elegance, and highlight the finesse of the terroir, before bottling at the estate.

This wine reveals notes of ripe red fruits, black cherry, and plum, complemented by floral touches of rose and violet, as well as spicy and peppery nuances. Woody accents of tobacco and licorice mingle with a subtle mineral dimension.
