Sheltered from Atlantic influence by the surrounding hills, this valley enjoys a warmer, drier climate than the rest of the Vinho Verde appellation, ideal for Alvarinho. The grapes come from vines more than fourteen years old, with low yields, which offer high acidity and fine ripeness.

The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates and quickly taken to the cellar. They undergo skin maceration, then fermentation starts on the skins for a few hours, the old-fashioned way, to extract more colour and tannin. It finishes in used 400-litre French oak barrels, where the wine is aged for nine months on its full lees with bâtonnage, before twelve months' rest in bottle.

This wine reveals notes of vanilla, white flowers, peach, apricot, lemon zest, fresh herbs, wet stone and smoke. The very complex nose combines a touch of oak with appealing fruit and clear mineral notes. The palate, broad and vibrant, keeps the pure frame of Alvarinho: light herbal accents, well-defined minerality, lively acidity and a long, slightly saline finish.
