artadi-valdegines-espagne
Artadi - Valdegines - 2022

Located in the heart of Rioja Alavesa, the Valdegines vineyard belongs to the Artadi estate, situated in Laguardia, on the northern bank of the Ebro. The vines thrive on limestone and clay-limestone hillsides at medium altitude, benefiting from a continental climate tempered by Atlantic influences. This cool terroir, with poor and well-drained soils, favors slow and regular grape ripening. Surrounded by small traditional plots, the Valdegines plot precisely expresses the mineral identity and finesse characteristic of this iconic Spanish wine region.

The grapes from the Valdegines vineyard are harvested by hand, carefully sorted, then destemmed before fermentation in open tanks, with gentle extractions to preserve the fruit's finesse. Malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels. Aging then continues in oak barrels to refine the texture and add subtle woody complexity while respecting the expression of the Laguardia terroir.

This wine reveals notes of ripe red fruits, juicy black fruits, and delicate floral touches, enhanced by spicy accents and a fine woodiness with nuances of cedar and vanilla.
