{"product_id":"blandys-vintage-bual-1994-portugal","title":"Blandy's - Vintage Bual - 1994","description":"\u003cp\u003eThis 1994 Bual from Blandy's comes from the island of Madeira, in the heart of the Atlantic Ocean, some 900 kilometres from the Portuguese coast and 600 kilometres from Africa. The grapes come from Calheta, on the sunny south coast, where the vines are trellised. The volcanic soils, made up of basalt, trachyte and tuff, and the temperate oceanic climate, whose temperature and humidity vary with altitude, preserve the acidity that allows these wines to span the decades.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe 1994 harvest was done by hand, with a quality selection in several passes according to the ripeness of the grapes. After a fermentation halted by fortification with grape spirit, the wine aged according to the traditional canteiro system, in oak casks at ambient temperature. It was bottled in 2025 after some thirty years of ageing, in a series of 1,430 bottles.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis wine reveals notes of \u003cstrong\u003evanilla\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003ecinnamon\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003etoasted dried fruit\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003ecandied fruit\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003etoasted biscuit\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003efruit cake\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eshortbread\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003ecaramel\u003c\/strong\u003e. The golden amber colour shows coppery glints.
