Groot Constantia is renowned for its famous Vin de Constance, a unique blend of Red and White Muscat, a wine that was favored by Napoleon during his exile on St. Helena Island, but it also produces a very nice \u003cstrong\u003ePort-style\u003c\/strong\u003e wine! The climate is Mediterranean, with fresh winds from the Atlantic Ocean. The soils are incredibly diverse for such a small area, allowing the cultivation of very varied grape varieties.\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"p1\"\u003e The harvest takes place at the end of March. The grapes were first macerated with the skins. After pressing, fermentation was stopped by adding brandy when the sugar level reached 95g\/litre. The wine then underwent 22 months of ageing in used French barrels. With an intense ruby colour, this wine demonstrates incredible complexity on the nose, combining aromas of \u003cstrong\u003eripe black fruits\u003c\/strong\u003e , \u003cstrong\u003eredcurrants\u003c\/strong\u003e , \u003cstrong\u003eplum\u003c\/strong\u003e , \u003cstrong\u003ecocoa\u003c\/strong\u003e , \u003cb\u003efig\u003c\/b\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003edried fruits\u003c\/strong\u003e . On the palate it is just as astonishing with once again a very beautiful intensity and a sugar superbly balanced by the acidity.
