Planted in 1999 by Steve Kistler and oriented north–south, it lies on Goldridge soils, iron-rich sandstone mixed with small pebbles. The climate remains cool, under the influence of the Pacific fogs, allowing slow ripening of the Pinot Noir.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe grapes are harvested by hand, at night, sorted as whole bunches and then fully destemmed. Each block is vinified separately in small two- to four-tonne tanks, without cold maceration, with native yeasts and limited punch-downs for gentle extraction. Only the free-run wine is moved by gravity into François Frères barrels, 25% of them new, for eleven months of ageing and spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis wine reveals notes of \u003cstrong\u003eblackberry\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eblackcurrant\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eboysenberry\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003echerry\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003estrawberry\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eviolet\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003erose petal\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003egraphite\u003c\/strong\u003e. Black and purple fruit dominate, lifted by floral touches and a clear mineral imprint.
