occidental-bodega-ridge-vineyard-pinot-noir-etats-unis
Occidental - Bodega Ridge Vineyard Pinot Noir - 2023

This cuvée comes from Bodega Ridge Vineyard, planted in 2012 on the ridges of the far west of the Sonoma Coast, in the immediate vicinity of the Pacific Ocean. The vines grow on sandy Goldridge soils over marine sediments and fossils. In this part of the vineyard, tiny berries give a dark, dense Pinot Noir, while sea fogs and cool summers preserve its tension.

The grapes are harvested by hand, at night, sorted as whole bunches and then fully destemmed. Each block is vinified separately in small two- to four-tonne tanks, without cold maceration, with native yeasts and limited punch-downs for gentle extraction. Only the free-run wine is moved by gravity into François Frères barrels, 25% of them new, for eleven months of ageing and spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration.

This wine reveals notes of black raspberry, black cherry, plum, liquorice, juniper, sage, rosemary and incense. The high-toned, incisive nose combines black fruit, aromatic herbs and spicy touches. The palate is dominated by an impressive concentration of black berries, supported by a saline element, lively acidity and broad, even tannins through to a long finish.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0284/0032/0643/files/media_db885209-4333-45e1-b846-384b191097ce.png?v=1792760844
https://www.lebaroudeurduvin.com/en-fi/products/occidental-bodega-ridge-vineyard-pinot-noir-etats-unis
