altos-las-hormigas-malbec-clasico-argentine
Altos las Hormigas - Malbec Clásico - 2023

The Malbec Clásico from Altos las Hormigas comes from the province of Mendoza, at the foot of the Andes. It blends 70% grapes from Luján de Cuyo, near the Mendoza River, and 30% from Paraje Altamira, in the Uco Valley. The cool, well-drained soils, with a silty-sandy texture, and the semi-desert climate with hot days and cool nights preserve the freshness of the Malbec, even in a hot vintage like 2023.

The organically grown grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation takes place with native yeasts and includes 5% whole bunches, which bring freshness and aromatic lift. The wine is then aged for nine months in concrete tanks, with no oak, to favour the fruit and the expression of the terroir rather than the imprint of the barrel.

This wine reveals notes of plum, black cherry, blackberry, violet, black pepper, mint, dried herbs and liquorice.
