In the local dialect, “sorì” means a south-facing hillside, and “Tildìn” is the diminutive of Clotilde, Angelo Gaja's grandmother. The vineyard sits at the top of a hill in Barbaresco, just above Costa Russi. Its south and south-west exposure and amphitheatre shape ensure maximum sunshine, ideal for full ripeness of the Nebbiolo.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe grapes from this sun-drenched hillside undergo a classic fermentation and maceration of around three weeks in stainless-steel tanks, to extract colour, substance and ripe tannins. The wine is then aged for twelve months in barriques, then a further twelve months in large oak casks. This double ageing rounds out the texture and integrates the oak elegantly, while preserving the expression of the Barbaresco terroir and the cru's remarkable ageing potential.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThis wine reveals notes of \u003cstrong\u003esandalwood\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003ecinnamon\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eviolet\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003estrawberry\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003echerry\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eraspberry\u003c\/strong\u003e, \u003cstrong\u003eliquorice\u003c\/strong\u003e and \u003cstrong\u003eclove\u003c\/strong\u003e. The complex, fragrant bouquet combines the softness of spices and flowers with generous red fruit.
