In 2003, at the age of 78, May de Lencquesaing, a grande dame of wine and former owner of the legendary Château Pichon Lalande in Bordeaux, decided to start all over again. She headed to South Africa, where she revived Glenelly Estate , an estate steeped in history. On this land, first trodden by French Huguenots over 300 years ago, she planted vines after meticulous study of the terroir and built one of the most modern wineries on the continent.

With a bold vision, she elevated Glenelly Estate to the status of South Africa's leading winemaker. Her wines, acclaimed by leading international critics, captivate with their power, elegance, and balance.

Just 50 kilometers from Cape Town, Glenelly Estate is nestled in the legendary Stellenbosch vineyards, a region where vines have shaped the landscape since the 17th century. The estate's history dates back to 1682, when Huguenot François Villon received the land from Cape Town Governor Simon van der Stel. Today, Glenelly Estate continues this tradition of excellence, combining respect for the terroir with innovation.
