quinta-de-la-rosa-white-port-portugal
Quinta de la Rosa - White Port

This white port comes from Quinta de la Rosa, on the banks of the Douro, near Pinhão, in the heart of the Cima Corgo. The vines are planted on terraces on the schist slopes overlooking the river, under a continental climate with scorching, dry summers. The valley's traditional white grape varieties, Viosinho, Gouveio and Rabigato, find here the ripeness needed to make ports that are both rich and balanced.

The grapes are harvested by hand and then foot-trodden in temperature-controlled lagares for four days. Fermentation is stopped by the addition of grape spirit, known as fortification, which retains some of the grapes' natural sugars for an extra dry style. The wine then matures for an average of two years in 550-litre oak casks, before being blended with older wines to ensure consistent quality.

This wine reveals notes of mango, pineapple, dried apricot, orange peel, white flowers, honey, almond and hazelnut. The yellow colour leans slightly towards amber. Tropical aromas dominate a fresh bouquet, extended by nuances of nuts and dried fruit. On the palate, the sweetness remains measured and perfectly balanced by lively acidity, through to a clean, thirst-quenching finish.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0284/0032/0643/files/Quinta-de-la-Rosa-White-Port-scaled.jpg?v=1792761148
