quinta-de-la-rosa-reserva-portugal
Quinta de la Rosa - Reserva - 2022

Quinta de la Rosa stretches along the banks of the Douro, near Pinhão, in the heart of the Cima Corgo, the historic cradle of the valley's great wines. The vines are planted on terraces on the schist slopes overlooking the river. The continental climate, with very hot, dry summers and cold winters, forces the vines to draw deep into the schist, giving concentrated grapes. Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional and Tinta Roriz make up this Reserva.

The grapes are harvested by hand and then vinified traditionally: they are foot-trodden in lagares, the stone vats typical of the Douro, before fermentation in small stainless-steel tanks. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels, which round out its tannins and bring spicy notes while preserving the depth of the fruit and the freshness of the schist terroir.

This wine reveals notes of cherry, raspberry, blackberry, blackcurrant, plum, violet, cinnamon and black pepper. Red fruits open the bouquet before giving way to black fruits, lifted by oriental spices. The palate, dense and concentrated without heaviness, rests on ripe, smooth tannins that coat the fruit, through to a fine finish of black fruit and plum.
