borgogno-bompe-italie
Borgogno - Bompè - 2022

The vineyards for the Borgogno estate's Bompè cuvée are located in Piedmont, in the heart of the Langhe hills, on the heights surrounding the village of Barolo. The vines benefit from the region's typical marl-limestone soils, a blend of clay and ancient sands, which promote slow and complete grape ripening. Primarily south and southwest-facing, the plots enjoy a continental climate tempered by Alpine influences, with significant temperature fluctuations that preserve aromatic freshness and tannin finesse.

The red grapes for the Bompè cuvée are harvested at optimal ripeness, then destemmed and crushed before alcoholic fermentation in vats, with skin maceration to extract color and structure. Malolactic fermentation is conducted after alcoholic fermentation to soften the tannic structure. The wine is then aged in vats and barrels to preserve the fruit while adding complexity and balance, before bottling at the estate.

This wine reveals notes of crisp red fruits, black cherry, and plum, complemented by floral touches of violet and dried rose, as well as spicy nuances of pepper and licorice.
