Barolo Cannubi 2019

Located in the heart of Piedmont, the Cannubi vineyard is situated on one of the most renowned hills in the commune of Barolo, in the province of Cuneo. This historic hillside benefits from ideal exposure and well-drained slopes, within a natural amphitheater that protects the vines. The soils are marly-calcareous with sand and fine clay, imparting finesse and complexity to the wine. The Borgogno estate cultivates its Nebbiolo plots here using a traditional approach, to precisely express the unique character of this emblematic terroir.

The grapes are harvested manually, then destemmed and gently crushed before alcoholic fermentation in vats with prolonged maceration on the skins, to extract color and structure. Malolactic fermentation then occurs spontaneously. The wine is then aged for a long period in large Slavonian oak barrels, where it gains aromatic complexity and tannic finesse, before further bottle aging to perfect its balance and harmony.

This wine reveals notes of black cherry, ripe red fruits, and plum, complemented by floral touches of dried rose and violet. Spicy nuances of licorice, pepper, and clove mingle with subtle woody notes of tobacco and cedar. The palate offers a full body, supported by lively acidity, firm but polished tannins, and a long, persistent finish that highlights the structure and elegance of Nebbiolo.
